The 2010 Cecil County Arts Council Calendar of Arts Events is now available. The calendar contains updated listings of the gallery exhibitions in Elkton and Chesapeake City for 2010. It lists event dates and grant deadlines as well as upcoming classes for CCAC. In an attempt to help CCAC stay "green" in 2010 we can email you a copy if you haven't already recieved yours. Despite Poor Economy, CCAC Grants Offer Opportunities for the Arts
Did you know the Cecil County Arts Council offers grants to Cecil County schools and organizations to provide art programs to the community? Last year alone, the Arts Council distributed over $40,000 to encourage people of all ages to experience the arts.
The Arts Council offers the TAP grant to Cecil County municipalities to provide project support to bring new arts programs of quality to our residents. The Arts Express grant provides school aged children with transportation and tickets to museums or performances. And the Project Can grant provides underserved populations with a qualified artist or supplies to conduct an educational art program. The funding for these grants is provided in partnership with the Cecil County Government and application deadlines are quarterly.

Arts Council Announces 2009 Scholarship Award Recipients
On June 12, at the opening event for their Annual Members’ Exhibition, CCAC announced the winners of their 2009 Scholarship Awards. The Arts Council awarded three scholarships thanks in part, to donations made at their Summer Music Concert Series and a grant provided by the Moran Family Foundation.

On June 12 from 5-7pm CCAC will open its doors at 135 East Main Street in Elkton and welcome the Cecil County Arts Council’s Member Exhibition. The exhibition, limited to CCAC Members, will feature interpretations of this year's theme, "Secret Gardens." The exhibition promises to be one of the largest of the year. Last year, over fifty artists exhibited and we expect even more this year.The show continues through July 17.
The opening event on Friday, June 12th, will feature he live music of local band "Clashing With Blue" and refreshments. The evening will also host the CCAC Annual Members meeting including nominations for new Board Members and the 2009 Scholarship Award announcements. The event is free and open to the public. |
